Project: Strengthening Nonprofit Organizations in Myanmar
Client: Community Strengthening Program 

Southeast Ascent Partners conducted a two-phase assessment of Myanmar’s nonprofit sector, examining digital capabilities, institutional strengths, policy barriers, and sustainability pathways. The studies revealed both progress, such as stronger governance practices and increasing digital adoption, and persistent challenges in compliance, funding, and operational safety. Our recommendations provided tailored capacity-building, flexible funding approaches, digital inclusion strategies, and policy advocacy pathways, offering a clear roadmap for nonprofit organizations to strengthen resilience and achieve long-term impact in restrictive and fragile contexts.

Assessed digital capabilities, institutional strengths, and the policy landscape across Myanmar’s nonprofit sector. Identified progress in governance and digital adoption alongside persistent operational challenges. Highlighted the reliance on network-based operations under restrictive conditions.

Client - An International Non-Government Organization (INGO)

Southeast Ascent Partners conducted the endline evaluation of the MSLS project, which delivered urgent humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected communities across 16 IDP sites in Kayin and Mon States. The project addressed critical needs in WASH, Protection, Shelter and NFIs, Health, and Food Security, supporting both displaced and host populations.

Our Contribution

We applied mixed-methods evaluation approaches, including household surveys, KIIs, and outcome monitoring, to assess project performance against OECD-DAC criteria. Our evaluation provided evidence-based insights and actionable recommendations to strengthen humanitarian coordination, enhance sustainability, and inform future multi-sectoral programming in Southeast Myanmar.
